Gerard Moreno Balagueró was born on April 7, 1992 in the family of Didac Moreno in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda, Spain. Moreno was born into a middle-class family; His parents weren't rich either, they were poor. More was his parents' first child. He spent his childhood with his little brother in Catalonia in northeastern Spain. He started playing soccer at the age of eight. Career

Moreno joined Villarreal from Badalona in 2010. On March 5, 2011, while still a junior, he appeared with the reserves and appeared as a late substitute in a 2–1 home loss to Rayo Vallecano. In his early days he also represented the third team and scored an amazing number of goals in the Tercera División.

On 10 December 2011, Moreno scored his first goal as a professional which contributed to a 3–1 Segunda División home win over Xerez. He played his first official game with the Villarreal main team about a year later, starting with a 1-0 loss at Elche. He scored his first goal for the Yellow Submarine on January 25, 2013, opening a 3–0 loss to Sabadell.

On 8 July 2013, Moreno signed a season loan with Mallorca's second division. He then returned to Villarreal and has now definitely been promoted to the La Liga first team.

On September 14, 2014, Moreno appeared in the Spanish top division, starting with a 0–0 draw against Granada. Ten days later, he scored his first goal of the competition in a 1–1 draw at Eibar.

On August 13, 2015, Moreno signed a five-year deal with fellow league player Espanyol, who bought 50% of his rights for a fee of €1.5 million. On the following January 23, he scored a 2–2 home draw against his former team before being sent off.

Moreno posted sixteen (16) good times during the 2017–2018 season and placed 11th.

On June 12, 2018, Moreno returned to Villarreal and agreed to a five-year contract. Having previously retained 50% of the player's rights, his former club paid Espanyol €20m for the transfer to buy back the remaining 50% and take full control of the player.

Moreno finished 2019–2020 with a total of eighteen (18) league goals, winning the Zarra Trophy. He renewed the accolade the following season with 23 and seven assists as team-best, scoring a further seven goals in his UEFA Europa League triumph. He was later voted Europa League Player of the Season, beating Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani.

On August 10, 2021, Moreno signed a new six-year contract. The following day he scored against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup, overtaking Giuseppe Rossi to become the club's all-time top scorer with 83 goals.

Moreno has never been capped for Spain at any youth level. He appeared as a senior on 15 October 2019 and played the entire 1–1 draw in Sweden for UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers. A month later, for the same competition and also as a starter, he scored his first goal in a 7–0 win over Malta in Cádiz for the already qualified hosts. On November 18, he added a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Romania and was included in Luis Enrique's 24-man squad for the finals on May 24, 2021.

Moreno played much less in the 2021–2022 campaign due to injury issues.
