Near the topCosta Rica's remote Osa Peninsulais the small town of Puerto Jimenez with just over 3,000 inhabitants. This historic logging and gold mining community is one of the peninsula's largest cities, boasting wonderful natural beauty.
Puerto Jimenez may seem like a typical neighborhood with a simple life, but this unassuming seaside town actually has more to offer than meets the eye! It is a popular destination for visitors looking to explore the rugged nature of the Osa Peninsula. In addition, this area is full of nightlife as it is the capital of the area.
There areso much to see and do in Puerto Jimenez(despite its small size)! For this very reason, finding the best hotel with the best location for your needs in Puerto Jimenez is crucial to making the most of your visit.
If you are one of those who are lookingAccommodation in Puerto Jimenez, you are in the right place! I've rounded up some hotels in and out of town to create this blog that can help travelers on a budget or big.
Where to Stay in Puerto Jimenez: The BEST Areas
You can get two completely different vibes depending on whether you're staying in a hotel right in the town of Puerto Jimenez or in a hotel in a secluded property outside of town. So this blog will give you a closer look at what to expect in these two places.
If you have your own car, driving and traveling around the city will be a breeze for you. You won't experience heavy traffic and finding a parking spot isn't too difficult! What a relief, isn't it?
While public transportation such as colectivos, taxis, and public buses are available around the city, they run only occasionally. I therefore suggest booking hotels directly in town if you don't have your own transport, as staying downtown means you can walk around easily. After all, Puerto Jimenez is very small.
If you want to spend time at the beach, the one in Puerto Jimenez isn't the best. You would have to leave the city to find the best beaches. So it's best to reserve accommodation outside of the city.
On the other hand, wildlife is probably the main feature here. Wildlife is everywhere in the area. In fact, you will see birds, monkeys and even sloths around the city. Outside the city, however, a stay in nature is more ideal.
While others look forward to the city's wildlife, most travelers visit Puerto Jimenez to see the areaCorcovado-Nationalpark, which is about 1.5 hours drive away. So if you are one of these visitors, I recommend booking a hotel near Carate, which serves as the entrance to the national park. This town is just over two hours from Puerto Jimenez.
Accommodations in Carate offer guests a special retreat in nature close to the national park. This means you can be the first to visit the 41,000 hectare park every day.
Below is information on 12 different hotels in and around Puerto Jimenez. I've included a detailed explanation of each hotel's location to make it easy for you to choose one in the area that's best for your trip.
